Is This a Memoir?
“Is This a Memoir?” is a fine art photobook accompanied by poetry and prose by myself and artists in my life. The relationship between artists, especially in an academic setting, is particularly valuable to me. It’s a lot of “Will you pose for my photography project?” and “Yes, could I make a mold of your leg for my ceramics project?”
This little give-and-take, the relationship between artist and muse, is what inspired me to create this project. “Is This a Memoir” was instrumental to my personal and artistic development. I asked artists in my life to share a piece of themselves through writing, and I made them my muses. One at a time, our vulnerabilities intertwined and enabled me to produce this beautiful show of interpersonal humanness.
